Underdog Islanders Make History At Telus Cup

So with the Cariboo Cougars getting knocked out, that gave the Cape Breton West Islanders the final spot in Saturday’s semi-finals. Cape Breton proceeded to upset the tournament’s top team the Mississauga Rebels in the semis. That booked them a date in Sunday’s gold medal game, which in and of itself is an incredible underdog story. Think about this: the Islanders only had 7 defenceman try out for their team this year. Also, their arena is located in Port Hood, Nova Scotia, which has a population of about a thousand people, and apparently still had dial up internet as recently as 2010.
