Nechako Karate Club Learns From World Champion

The so-called “Sidney Crosby of Karate” was in Prince George this weekend. 2004 World Karate Champion Luis Plumacher took in the Northern Open Tournament, before putting on a clinic at the College of New Caledonia. Plumacher did sparring sessions with kids and adults, trying to help improve their technique and speed. Nechako Karate Club Coach Warren Grafton met Plumacher at a tournament in Calgary last year and invited him to Prince George. Grafton said the kids were really appreciative of the rare opportunity to learn first-hand from a world champion.

Northern FanCon Wrapped Up This Weekend

Stormtroopers, Trekkies and comic book lovers gathered in Prince George to take part in the 3rd Annual Northern FanCon over the weekend. Thousands of people filled the CN Centre to meet up with some celebrities including Alicia Witt of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Karl Urban, who has featured in Lord Of The Rings was also signing autographs. The entertainment expo continues to grow every year. This year there were also local artists and creators, and many dressed up for the occasion.
