Thousands turned up at Masich Place stadium on Saturday to begin the 25th annual Relay for Life Walk.
To begin the 24 hour event $420,000 dollars had already been raised, the most ever to start the event.
The goal this year is $550,000.
There are 33 walkers who are committed to walking for 24 hours straight, and will finish Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
The fundraiser raises money for cancer research.
It is Canada’s only 24-hour relay.
