Council Approves Gas Tax Applications

Two local infrastructure projects have been identified as the City’s submissions for federal gas tax funding. Municipalities are allowed to submit applications for two capital projects, for no more than $6 million a piece, and one “capacity building” project.
The City has identified, and Council has approved, the library entrance project. It is currently in the capital budget for this year at $2.4 million. The other is the ice oval project, as efforts are underway to have a refrigeration system in place at a cost of $3.7 million.
As for the “capacity building” portion of the application, Council has approved applying for $100,000 for the Transportation Network Plan.
