Curbside Compost Maybe An Option For Residents

Composting yard waste goes a long way towards reducing the amount of waste going into the Foothills Landfill. The Regional District Fraser-Fort George is hoping to extend the life of the landfill.  It’s considering the adoption of a curbside organic recycling program.
The district will have a study conducted to look into the potential of having a curbside pick program throughout the city. The plan is to have the study conducted in the summer and presented to the Board of the Regional District in the fall. Without the curbside option, residents really only have one option for recycling their food waste…composting it at home. Recently Terrace adopted an organic curbside program, where both garbage and organics are picked up by the same truck.
