June is ALS Awareness Month. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, gradually paralyses people, as the brain is no longer able to communicate with muscles in the body.
About 3,000 people in Canada are living with ALS. An Estimated 40 people have ALS in the northern health region.
A walk is being held in Prince George on June 25th to not only help those who are living with it locally, but also to help find a cure.
