First Student Success Plan Makes Strides

The Board for the College of New Caledonia got an update after one year of its five-year Strategic plan for Student Success. The plan sets out five “pillars” to improving outcomes for students across all campuses in the region. They look at: Student Success, culture of Service, Aboriginal Education, Organizational Culture and Community Engagement.
Much has been achieved on that front in the past year, such as expansion of the Digital Delivery Instruction, and the Nursing Program in India.
CNC President Henry Reiser says this document is unique.
“It’s a dynamic document, it’s a living document that we refer to. So all of our budget decisions, all of our operations and activities need to be justified by the elements that have been identified in the Strategic Plan. It’s not a document that sits on a shelf; it’s a document that’s used as a reference.”
While great strides have been made on initiating that five-year plan, more work needs to be done. Next steps will be hashed out at the Board retreat in Quesnel in October.
