BC Hydro crews are busy following a brief but ferocious storm that passed through Prince George around 4:45pm. The City was under a severe thunderstorm warning when the storm hit. Environment Canada said the region could expect winds of up to 90kmh.
Strong winds knocked down trees and powerlines through out parts of the city. At the height of the storm, over 1,000 homes and businesses in Prince George were without electricity. One homeowner along North Nechako Road will be doing fence repairs after a tree came down, crushing the fence.
The storm created a wave of outages throughout the Cariboo as it passed over the region from the southeast.
BC Hydro is reminding the public to report any downed powerlines. If lines come into contact with your vehicle, stay in your vehicle until help arrives.
