Cottonwood Park and Other Trails Closed After Flooding

The city has closed Cottonwood island Park along with many other trails along the Nechako and Fraser Rivers due to high rising water levels.

The River forecast centre says lots of rain has been the cause for the higher water levels over the last few days in the region.

Cottonwood Island Park was hit hard, with water up over the pathways, almost creeping up into the parking lot.

The area is closed to the public, but the forecast centre says levels are starting to drop, and that it should be only a few days until levels are back to normal.

The city says they have to see the water drop at least a metre before trails are considered being re-opened.
