Animal Control Survey Ready

The City wants to hear from residents in a new on line survey as its gets set to update the animal control bylaw. The current bylaw is a dozen years old and has some antiquated rules within it. The online survey asks questions like how long a dog is barking before it is considered a nuisance, does there need to be dangerous breed wording in the bylaw. And, the City is also looking to add an element to the bylaw.
“Cats. How they feel about that,” says Fred Crittenden, the Manager of Bylaw Services. “Whether or not it’s something the community feels we need to address.”
Residents have until the end of business on July 14 to fill out the survey and Crittenden says he hopes to have the new bylaw before Council in the Fall so that it can be in place for the new year as it may impact such things as pet licencing.
