Federal Government No Longer Cutting Salmon Program

A federal program is no longer on the chopping block. Last week, hundreds of Chinook salmon fry were released into the Nechako River. At that time, the salmonoid program had been granted a one-year reprieve, after the Department of Fisheries and Oceans announced the program’s demise. Today, the federal government has done a complete turn around and says, funding will be ongoing for that program, as well as others.
