A search is underway after a car was struck by rushing water along Highway 20 west of Williams Lake overnight.
One person was pulled safely from the river and taken to hospital for treatment. It’s not clear if anyone else was in the car, or if other cars were affected. RCMP is being assisted by a Search and Rescue team in the incident.
The washout has destroyed about 150 metres of highway and left a gaping hole in the earth. It occurred 25 kilometres west of the intersection with Highway 97. No detour is available.
