Prince George’s first TEDx is set for September 30th. It’s being hosted at UNBC.
Today, the College of New Caledonia (CNC) announced it will play a title role. “Our commitment to this is that we are putting $10,000 in as a partner, and that we feel this is consistent with our strategic plan,” says CNC President, Henry Reiser. “One of the pillars of our strategic plan is community outreach, and what better way to reach out to the community than with an event like this where the entire community will be involved?”
“CNC is really one of those pillars in the community that represents the motto of technology, entertainment and design,” says Executive Producer of TEDxUNBC 2017, Seth Jex. “TEDxUNBC 2017 is themed ‘dispelling misconceptions’ .”
“There are a lot of false perceptions about Prince George being small and dirty and crime-ridden,” says Reiser, “but in fact, Prince George is not that. It is a wonderful city with wonderful facilities. We have excellent medical care, we have very high standards for economic and educational opportunities. The outdoors and surrounding environment is absolutely wonderful and pure and pristine. There’s a lot of messages out there that are not necessarily accurate as to what Prince George is about.”
Tickets for the event go on sale on July 1st.
