Amid the wildfires across the province, and some creeping up towards Quesnel, the mayor is saying that there is no evacuation order in place for the city, or surrounding neighbourhoods.
In a post on social media, Simpson writes that “the City of Quesnel is still not at risk, with no evacuation alerts or orders pending. That includes the immediate neighbourhoods outside the City.”
Simpson goes on to add that if the public is concerned about potential evacuation orders, you should monitor the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Operations Centre’s Facebook page.
The mayor adds that you should fill up your vehicle, collect your I.D, medications and prepare a box of foods, enough for 3 or 4 days and pack you bags.
