Residents will be able cool off with a refreshing glass of lemonade, all while supporting a local organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is hosting its 5th annual Big Squeeze competition tomorrow.
31 teams will be setting up lemonade stands across the city. All proceeds raised will go towards programming at BBBS.
“We are a mentoring agency,” Sydney Sankey, the Communications and Event Coordinator for BBBS. “We work with youth through so many different capacities. All the money that is raised is going towards our proactive mentoring program. That’s communities –so we are going to do groups and school, as well as our traditional program. So it is just going to help us reach more children.”
Trophies will be handed out to the team with the best tasting lemonade the team that raises the most money. A new category has also been added this year. 4 participating restaurants that will be selling ‘adult lemonade’, and donating a dollar from every drink sold. The restaurant to raise the most will be awarded a trophy.
The event runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Last year, 18 teams raised over $6,800 dollars. BBBS is hoping to raise $10,000 this year.
Locations of the stands can be found on the BBBS Facebook page.
