The Frederick family are hoping to see some changes after their 22 year old son Justin was killed at a crosswalk last September.
On September 27th, 2016 Justin Frederick was crossing the street according to his mother, Rhonda, who says he was heading to catch the bus for work.
That’s when he was hit by a vehicle around 8:00 a.m. and would later succumb to his injuries in hospital.
A Prince George woman made her first appearance in court on Thursday and was up on a charge for Driving a motor vehicle without due care & attention under the motor vehicle act.
The Fredericks’ say police had originally told them the charge would be under the criminal code for negligence causing death.
Justin succumbed to his injuries on hospital after he was hit at 5th and Lacoma Street near Voyageur Drive.
The accused will enter a plea on October 4th on a charge for Driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention.
A police report notes that the sun may have been in the driver’s eyes at the time of the incident.
The city says they are already in the process of reviewing that current crosswalk to see if any changes are warranted or required.
Frederick had recently moved to Prince George from Kamloops a year prior to his death.
