Kyle Johnson is the newest captain of the Prince George Spruce Kings.
The Port Moody, B.C. product is in his third season with the Spruce Kings. Last season, he put up 36 points in 46 regular season games, and then exploded for 5 goals in just 4 playoff games. This is Johnson’s first time being a captain at any level of hockey.
“It’s a huge honour,” said Johnson. “It’s something that’s exciting for me as a player. You kind of always dream of getting to this point, at least I did. I know it’s important. I’m just really excited to get going with leading the group.”
Rounding out the Spruce Kings leadership core are assistant captains Ben Brar and Jarod Hovde. Ben Poisson and Chays Ruddy will split the third assistant captain position.
The Spruce Kings 2017/18 season gets underway Friday, September 8th as they host the Chilliwack Chiefs.
