The Chief Commissioner of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls was in the region today. Marion Buller attended the Annual General Meeting of the Carrier Sekani Family Services in Nadleh Whut’en near Fraser Lake.
Buller has faced criticism over the pace of the inquiry which began last September. She wouldn’t commit to next September’s deadline for a final report, but she did say an interim report will be delivered on time November 1st.
The inquiry is set to cost Canadians $53.8 million but Buller adds she will be asking the federal government for more time and more money to complete the Inquiry.
