He is a fixture for First Nation advocacy in the north. Terry Teegee was the Vice Chief of the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council in 2009, and was later elected as Tribal Chief in 2012. He also sits on the Fraser Basin Council.
Now, Teegee is looking to take the next step. He is running for Regional Chief of the BC Assembly of First Nations.
The Regional Chief represents 203 First Nations across the province. Teegee says about 40% of status First Nations people reside in the north, yet not many northern Chiefs have been elected for the position.
Nominations closed at midnight on Monday. The election will be held on October 12th.
