A controversial homeless housing project that is being proposed for West Quesnel has many residents wondering if it’s the right location.
Many feel the location of the new proposed project would create issues in the area along Elliott Street.
An elementary school along with a daycare are in the immediate area.
Fritz Wyssen, an area resident believes the problem lays not with the location, but on how the program would be run, as he feels it would be similar to Seasons House, where some clients are drug users.
Mayor Bob Simpson says if enough evidence is provided, the project that would be developed by BC Housing and operated by the Quesnel Shelter and Support Society which currently operates the Seasons House downtown.
A public hearing is schedule for Monday night during the city council meeting for the public to provide feedback on the overall project.
The society and BC Housing were unable to provide any comment.
