The Cougars made a move today to address their overager situation, sending 20-year-old defenceman Tate Olson to Lethbridge in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Olson was a staple on the Cougars blue line for the last four seasons, putting up 107 points in 252 regular season games.
But the Cougars needed to make a deal with the team sitting above the limit of three overagers with the deadline approaching on October 15th. They got some news today that will help them in that regard, with 20-year-old forward Radovan Bondra signing with the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate the Rockford IceHogs.
With Olson and Bondra gone, the Cougars are now down to four overagers: forward Jared Bethune, forward Aaron Boyd, forward Brogan O’Brien and defenceman Shane Collins.
