The Prince George Sears location survived cuts by the company this summer, but now it appears the store will be closing by the end of the year.
A total of 66 jobs will be lost locally. The retailer is applying for court approval to liquidate all of its remaining stores and assets, and says it “deeply regrets” the loss of jobs and store closures.
Sears has been operating under protection from its creditors since June and has failed to find a buyer.
Erika Ewacha with the Prince George Chamber of Commerce says the closure of the store at Pine Centre leaves a gap other retailers will need to fill.
