A big day for the BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North marking the start of construction. Premier Gordon Campbell headed up a list of dignitiaries at today's groundbreaking ceremony. The Centre for the North will offer cancer patients and their families a greater range of care options including radiation therapy,eliminating the need for northern residents to travel south for treatment ,saving them both time and money . The new 5 thousand square metre Centre for the North will be BC's sixth regional cancer centre.The project with a price tag of close to 70 million dollars,is expected to create around 445 direct construction jobs .
