In one week students will be back in class.
As the new school year gets underway, parents are out shopping for school supplies. Many items on school supply lists are impacted by the HST. Tracey Hannam with SpeeDee says some schools and teachers made bulk purchases before the tax was implemented.
Items which previously has no PST... such as paper, pencils and pens are now charged HST. That's a tax jump from 5 percent up to 12.
