The Labour Day weekend is upon us - and the tradition dates back to April 1872.
That's when a parade was staged in support of the Toronto Topographical Union's strike. On July 23, 1894, Canadian Prime Minister John Thompson and his government made Labour Day, to be recognized on the first Monday in September, an official holiday. Over the years, however, there has been tremendous change to the Labour Movement.
