The Port of Prince Rupert may be part of an emerging trade dispute with the United States. A coalition of US west coast ports are accusing the Harper government of subsidizing Canadian ports, and is seeking a fee on containers coming into the US from overseas in order to level the playing field. The Port of Prince Rupert has long been touted as critical to Northern BC's transportation hub. President of Initiatives Prince George Tim McEwan says the Port is very competitive on the world stage and what the Americans are pursuing cannot be taken lightly.
