If you've been down the slopes of Powder King, you are the envy of the snow industry. The mountain has long been recognized as a hidden gem, well known for consistent epic amounts of powder. This week it received another distinction. The mountain was awarded a certificate for the most snowfall in the western world over the past week. Powder King owner Jim Salisbury says they've seen 166cm of snow over the past week, and the snow base is big, even by their standards. Tourism Prince George officials say through social media sharing, the news has been splashed across thousands of computer screens around the world. CEO Aidan Kelly says within the mountain industry, everyone knows the name Powder King, though few people have actually experienced it, as the facility is still quite small by resort standards. And while the combination of small mountain feel with big snow is a draw for some, Salisbury says the facility is not quite ready to capitalize on it's infamy just yet. But if Salisbury and Kelly's predictions are correct, it's only a matter of time before Powder King's capacity is ready to maximize on it's notoriety.
