Wednesday, 03 December 2008 15:26
The Governor General has arrived back in Canada after cutting short her European visit to deal with the parliamentary crisis. Michaelle Jean has returned home as Prime Minister Harper prepares to address the nation at 4pm, about the attempt by an opposition coalition to replace his minority government. Harper will plead his case and ask Canadians to reject the coalition.  Liberal Leader Stephane Dion has written a letter to Jean today, asking her to reject any attempt by Harper to postpone a confidence vote, set for Monday.
Conservative MP for Cariboo Prince George, Dick Harris says an opposition coalition would be bad new for our region. He says NDP have vowed to scrap the softwood lumber agreement. Prince George Mount Robson MLA Shirley Bond says the federal government should be putting the economy ahead of political rivalry. Bond says she hopes Harper will find a way to create stability.
