The Premier made a brief stop in the city last night honouring BC Public service employees from the north. The Northern region received awards in the Service Excellence, Cross-Government Integration and Partnership categories. The ministries of Transportation and Infrastructure and Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources, received a gold award for their collaboration on the successful heartlands oil and gas road rehabilitation strategy,with over 185 new gas wells being drilled off of the 31 upgraded roads. The improved roads ,also a significant benefit to residents in northeastern BC .
