This has been the most deadly winter for snowmobilers according to the Canadian Avalanche Centre. Spokesperson Mary Clayton says 23 people have died in avalanches across the country this winter - 17 of those being snowmobilers.The previous record for snowmobiler deaths in avalanches was nine in 2002-03. Clayton says sledding enthusiasts are usually well-prepared with safety gear, but that isnt always enough. Clayton calls on snowmobilers to educate themselves before heading out.The forecast for this weekend calls for extreme caution across most of British Columbia.
