North Cariboo SPCA Pleased With New Antifreeze Regulation PDF Print E-mail

The province  of BC  giving pets  and   their  owners  some peace of mind  today ,   becoming   the   first   province to legally  require   the addition of a bittering  agent  to anti-freeze  and  engine  coolant   sold   in the province. The sweet taste of antifreeze  is  a  major reason for  the acidental ,often fatal  ingestion of  toxic  antifreeze by pets.   North Cariboo  SPCA  Branch  Manager,Ann Gough , says they've seen their  share of tragedies,but not as  often as  area  veterinarians  have.   Wildlife and   young children  are  also  vulnerable  victims . The new Antifreeze  Regulation  takes  effect  January 1 ,2011.
