A local call centre has fallen victim to the global economic crisis. ACS confirmed to our newsroom late yesterday , they have issued 280 local lay off notices, effectively closing operations in the city. Chris Gilligan with Corporate Communitions says the major client for the local call centre has had a change in business needs. He says, unless a new client can be found, the local ACS operation will close July 14th. Some shock expressed today over a decision by ACS to close the local call centre, unless a new client can be found by July 14th. But Kathy Scouten with Initiatives Prince George says a recent industry trend to move to some of the offshore call centre activity back to North America. Scouten says IPG will be actively working with ACS to find a new client.
