Officials with UNBC and the federal government have launched the first step in a major bio-energy initiative at the university.
As of today UNBC's Enhanced Forestry Lab is heated entirely with pelletts. This one-year pilot project received half a million dollars in federal funding, and local pellett producers are providing the fuel. At the end of the project the university will look at the feasibility of a much larger bio-energy plan to heat the main campus.
