One of the leading elders among the Carrier Sekani has passed away. Sophie Thomas died yesterday in her home in Saikuz. Thomas was the traditional healer of the Carrier. Chief David Luggi said she had developed an international reputation for her work speaking at universities and other health learning institutions. Luggi says Thomas has been passing along her knowledge and experiences to others but says she will be dearly missed. Thomas was thought to be in her mid-90's. It's believed she passed away from natural causes.
